Rule of Thumb: Layer height should not exceed 80% of your nozzle diameter. For a 0.4mm nozzle, max layer height is 0.32mm.
Quality Settings
Quality settings control the resolution and surface finish of your prints. These settings have the most significant impact on how your printed parts look and feel.
Available Settings
Layer Height
Layer height is the most important quality setting. It determines the thickness of each layer in the Z direction.
| Layer Height | Quality | Print Time | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.08 - 0.12 mm | Ultra Fine | Very Slow | Miniatures, detailed models |
| 0.16 - 0.20 mm | Standard | Normal | General purpose printing |
| 0.24 - 0.32 mm | Draft | Fast | Prototypes, large parts |
Line Width
Line width determines how wide each extruded line is. This affects strength, surface quality, and print time.
- Default: Usually set to 100-120% of nozzle diameter
- First Layer: Often wider (150%) for better bed adhesion
- External Perimeters: May be slightly narrower for better detail
Seam Position
Each layer starts and ends at a seam point. The seam position setting controls where this point is located.
- Aligned: Seams aligned vertically (visible but predictable)
- Random: Seams scattered randomly (less visible overall)
- Nearest: Seam placed at nearest point to reduce travel
- Rear: Seam placed at the back of the model
