Caution: Modifying machine G-code incorrectly can damage your printer. Always backup your original settings and test carefully.
Printer Settings
Printer settings define your 3D printer's hardware configuration, including build volume, nozzle specifications, and motion capabilities.
Settings Categories
Basic Information
Printer name, type, and general configuration.
Printable Space
Build volume dimensions (X, Y, Z), bed shape, and origin.
Cooling Fan
Part cooling fan configuration and speed ranges.
Extruder Clearance
Nozzle clearance for sequential printing.
Machine G-Code
Start G-code, end G-code, and custom macros.
Motion Ability
Maximum speeds, accelerations, and jerk limits.
Printable Space
The printable space defines the physical dimensions of your printer's build area.
| Setting | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Bed Size X | Width of the build plate | 256 mm |
| Bed Size Y | Depth of the build plate | 256 mm |
| Max Print Height | Maximum Z height | 256 mm |
| Bed Shape | Rectangular or circular | Rectangular |
| Origin | Center or corner | Center |
Extruder Settings
Configure your printer's extruder and nozzle specifications.
- Nozzle Diameter
- The diameter of your nozzle orifice (typically 0.4mm)
- Retraction Length
- How far filament is pulled back during travel moves
- Retraction Speed
- Speed of retraction and de-retraction
- Z Hop
- Nozzle lift during travel to avoid hitting printed parts
Machine G-Code
Custom G-code sequences that run at specific points during printing.
- Start G-code: Runs before printing begins (homing, heating, purge line)
- End G-code: Runs after printing completes (retract, cool down, present part)
- Before Layer Change: Runs before each layer
- After Layer Change: Runs after each layer
- Tool Change G-code: Runs during filament/tool changes
Motion Ability
These settings define your printer's physical motion limits.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Max Speed X/Y | Maximum travel speed for X and Y axes |
| Max Speed Z | Maximum Z axis movement speed |
| Max Speed E | Maximum extruder motor speed |
| Max Acceleration | Maximum acceleration for each axis |
| Default Jerk | Instantaneous speed change limits |
