Tip: Variable layer height can significantly reduce print time without sacrificing quality where it matters.
Prepare Tab
The Prepare tab provides tools for manipulating, orienting, and preparing your 3D models before slicing.
Available Tools
Object Manipulation
Move, rotate, scale, and position your models on the build plate.
Support Painting
Paint on support enforcers and blockers for precise support control.
Seam Painting
Control where layer seams are placed on your model.
Object Manipulation
Basic tools for working with your models:
| Tool | Shortcut | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Move | M | Drag models to reposition on build plate |
| Rotate | R | Rotate around X, Y, or Z axis |
| Scale | S | Resize uniformly or per-axis |
| Lay on Face | F | Automatically orient model flat on a selected face |
| Auto-Orient | - | Automatically find optimal print orientation |
| Auto-Arrange | A | Automatically arrange all models on the plate |
Support Painting
Paint directly on your model to control support generation:
- Green (Enforcer): Force supports in this area
- Red (Blocker): Prevent supports in this area
Seam Painting
Control where layer seams appear on your model:
- Green (Enforcer): Prefer placing seams here
- Red (Blocker): Avoid placing seams here
Useful for hiding seams on visible surfaces or placing them in less noticeable areas.
Variable Layer Height
Use thicker layers where detail isn't needed and thinner layers for detailed areas.
- Adaptive: Automatically vary layer height based on geometry
- Manual: Paint or define layer heights per region
